The Reclassification Committee of the GHSA Executive Committee will host an open forum on reclassification issues on Saturday January 31, 2009, at the GHSA office in Thomaston, GA. This meeting will begin at 10:30am.
At this meeting, any representative from a member school will be allowed to define issues that need attention in reclassification AND to propose a method to resolve those matters. Each speaker will be limited to a ten-minute presentation and then a question-answer period will be allowed after that. Individuals desiring to be placed on the agenda for this meeting should send a written notification to the GHSA office before January 27, 2009.
It is hoped that the information gleaned from this meeting will help the Reclassification Committee as they discuss reclassification at the March meeting of the Executive Committee.

ATLANTA, GA — The Georgia Dome and Atlanta Falcons proudly announce the unveiling of a Georgia High School Association football helmet display. Located at lower Gate C of the Dome, this expansive display features helmets gathered from GHSA-affiliated high school football teams statewide.
“High school football is an integral part of our sport,” said Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay. “Our recognition of Georgia High School Football allows us to reconnect with the roots of our game, and encourage the next generation of players and coaches.”
"We are thrilled to host the state finals this year and look forward to unveiling the helmet display in time for kickoff of the first game,” said Carl Adkins, Georgia Dome General Manager. “We have a great relationship with the GHSA and are very proud to have this opportunity to salute high school football in the Dome."
The helmet display includes all helmets received by October 30, 2008. Helmets received after October 30 will be added at a later date. Those high schools that have not sent their helmet in and are interested in representation should contact Kendyl Moss, Director of Community Relations for the Atlanta Falcons at 404-367-2064 or kmoss@falcons.nfl.com as soon as possible.

Beginning with the 2008-2009 basketball season, the official ball for the GHSA playoffs will be the Wilson WAVE. This product will be the ball provided for third-round games, the semifinal games, and the championship games. For the first two rounds of the playoffs, any legal Wilson ball may be used.
Schools are encouraged to use Wilson basketballs in the regular season, but that is not mandatory. The GHSA suggests that coaches look at the WAVE ball and its technological advancements during summer workouts and camps.
