Erne Eagles Rounders Club
Welcome to Erne Eagles Rounders Club. We are the first Irish Rounders Club to have a web site dedicated to Rounders on the Web. This web site was set up in 1995.We are the All Ireland Womens Senior Champions 2007, All Ireland Mens Senior Champions 1998 - 2007, All Ireland Minor Mens Champions 1997,2006-2007, U16 Mixed Feile Champions 2005, U13 Boys Feile Champions 2004, All Ireland Senior Mixed Champions 2003 and 2005. National League Winners 2002, Minor Mixed All Ireland Champions 2001, Gary Kelly Cup (Senior Ladies) Winners 1998 - 2000, U14 Mixed Feile Champions 1998, along with numerous silver and bronze medals at The Community Games National Finals.The club is based in south Co. Cavan, Ireland and is presently made up of players from Mullahoran, Gowna and Ballymachugh.Rounders is a G.A.A. sport and quite like Fast Pitch Softball.The club has been up and running since 1984/5.

All-Star Winners
Erne Eagles Rounders Club would like to congratulate three of our players on winning All-Star awards. The award winners are Rosaleen Reilly(2b), Hugh Briody(2b) and Gerard Clerkin(ss).This is Rosaleen's third award. Gerard's second award and Hugh's first award. So congratulations to them all. They will be presented with their awards at a gala dinner in Croke Park on Fri 19th December, to be presented by President of the GAA, Nicky Brennan.

Celebrity and Inter-Pro Matches
Well the weather was lovely. So nice in fact that the sun was stopping players seeing the ball !There were a couple of the celebrities not able to make the match so some of our Rounders players teamed up with them and beat our so-called all-stars ! However it was a friendly match and the result doesn't matter. The celebrities that were present were Shane Byrne (Leinster rugby), Mary Treacy (Laois football and two time all-star), Katrina Foley (Cork camagie captain) and Senan Dormer (former Rounders and current softball and baseball player). The celebrities all acquitted themselves well and were presented with momentos of the occasion.Inter-Pro: Leinster 15 Ulster 7We were well and truly beaten in the Inter-Pro. Ulster had no answer to Leinster's superior base-hitting. Erne Eagles players featuring for Ulster were Ann-Marie Donohoe (3b), Ashling Smith (2b), Damien Mc Ardle (c) and Jim Reilly (lo). Jim Reilly captained the team.

Celebrity and Inter-Provincal Games
This Sunday (5th Oct), will see the Rounders all-Stars take on a celebrity team, make up of a number of sporting celebrities. The celebrities will include in their ranks no less than our own World Champion handballer, Paul (Gunner) Brady. Paul, incidentally, has an All-Ireland Rounders winners medal from one of the 10 in a row Mens team.The celebrities are;Emma Byrne - Irish & Arsenal goalkeeperMary Leacy - Wexford Camoige captain Katrina Foley - Cork Camoige Captain Paul Brady - World Handball champion Shane Byrne, ex Leinster & Ireland hooker (Rugby) now playing GAA in Augrim, Wicklow Gary Kirby - ex Limerick Hurler, Joint Master Marskman, Road to Croker 2008 The game will commence at 1.30. This will be followed by the Inter-Provincal Final between Ulster and Leinster. Representing Erne Eagles in the All-Star v Celebrity game will be Damien Mc Ardle. Minor Mens Final
Our minor men got beaten in the Minor Mens Final in Caragh, Co. Kildare on Sunday 28th Sept. The lads were due to play Limekiln in the semi-final, but the Dublin team couldn't field, thus giving the lads a bye into the final.They met a very strong Heath team from Laois and just weren't able to match them. Howerver, we are a very young team and the experience will stand to us next year.

Rounders Stand at Ploughing Championships
Gaa Rounders will have a stand at The National Ploughing Championships for the first time ever. This will be part of the the main GAA presence at the event, which is to be held in Kilkenny on the 23-25th of September.If you're going, be sure to check it out. Community Games Results
Congratulations to our Erne Valley u13 boys and u15 girls Community Games Rounders teams.
The u13 boys had a reasonably comfortable win over Castletara/Ballyhaise winning 13-8, but controlled proceedings for most of the match.
The u15 girls beat the experienced Ballyhaise outfit despite having only eight players. We snatched the game by denying Ballyhaise the two runs they needed with the bases loaded in a pulsating finish.

Lucas represented the club at under-age level in both the Community Games and GAA Rounders Feile.

Rounders Season 2008
Welcome to Erne Eagles Rounders Season 2008.
u13 & u15 comm. games boys training sessions will be every Sunday at 12 o clock.
Minor and Senior GAA Rounders trainings will be every Sunday at 1 o clock.
All from Ballymachugh, Gowna and Mullahoran are welcome for our Community Games Teams.
Players are welcome from anywhere for our Minor and Senior GAA Rounders teams.

Carlow Blitz
Ballon Mixed Blitz Report
Erne Eagles participated in a Mixed Rounder’s blitz on Sunday 30th March in Cuchulainns, Ballon. We played two games. The first of the two games was against the host club Cuchulainns. However we started slowly and the Carlow outfit scored heavily in the first innings and although we improved as the game went on we never reduced the deficit to get close enough to challenge Cuchulainns.
Our second game was against our old rivals Limekiln from Dublin. This was a much better performance from us and we played some good Rounder’s and led by six runs going into the last bat. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to hold out and lost the match by a single run.
This was the first event of the year and as training hasn’t even started yet it was a useful exercise, and will focus minds for the challenges to come this season, with both Senior Men, Minor Men and Women’s teams seeking to defend their All-Ireland titles from last year.
This was a young and experimental team put out on Sunday with many new faces and some old ones coming back to feature in the season opener. Indeed we were close to fielding two teams despite missing many regulars and this can only augur well for the coming season.
Special mention must go to All-Star, Seán Og Brady who scored the competition’s only home run of the day. Seán Og along with fellow All-Star Damien Mc Ardle played in Saturday’s exhibition game against and Irish Baseball select team. Both acquitted themselves well.
